One of the world`s leading folklorists, Wolf�gang Mieder is Professor of German and Folklore at the University of Vermont. He has written and edited over twenty books and numerous articles in English or Ger�man on fairy tales, proverbs, legends, folksongs, nursery rhymes, and literary top�ics. Two of his English-language books are International Proverb Scholarship: An An�notated Bibliography ( 1982) and, with Alan Dundes, The Wisdom of Many: Essays on the Proverb (1981). He is editor of three ongoing projects: Proverbium: Yearbook of International Proverb Scholarship, a Swiss series of books on proverb research, and a reprint series of proverb books published in West Germany.
